The official receiver is a civil servant working for The Insolvency Service.
The Official Receiver is an officer of the court who receives your bankruptcy file from the Court. He is appointed to act as Trustee in Bankruptcy.
His job is to:
- Take possession of your assets
- Protect assets, not immediately saleable
- Realise or otherwise deal with assets
- Distribute the proceeds of assets to your Creditors
He is also required to look into your finances
- Before and after the date of Bankruptcy
- Report to your creditors
- Report any fraudulent or criminal activity connected to your bankruptcy
Sometimes a Licensed Insolvency Practioner will be appointed to act as Trustee in Bankruptcy, in disposing of your assets and paying your creditors, instead of the Official Receiver.
An Insolvency Practitioner normally works for a private practice.
At Personal Debt Solutions we have Licensed Insolvency Practioners.
